Guide · Updated Nov 2026What every local business website needs.

A 15-point checklist to run before you launch or redesign your site.

Use this list to check your current site, or to compare designers before you hire one.

Getting customers to act

  1. Phone-first design: most local visitors are on a phone. Check every page on yours.
  2. Tap-to-call and tap-to-text on every screen, not just the contact page.
  3. A quote form or booking button that's short and goes straight to your phone.
  4. Clear starting prices or "quoted by vehicle/project" so people know what to expect.
  5. Real photos of your work. Stock photos make every business look the same.

Building trust

  1. Licenses, insurance and guarantees stated clearly, only the ones you really have.
  2. Real reviews with their source, never invented.
  3. Service areas listed with the actual towns or neighborhoods you cover.
  4. An about section that shows there's a real person behind the business.

Getting found on Google

  1. One page per service, each with a unique title and description.
  2. Your city in the main heading and naturally in the copy.
  3. Schema markup for your business, services and FAQs.
  4. Fast loading: compressed images and no heavy plugins.
  5. Google Search Console verified with a sitemap submitted.
  6. Google Analytics tracking calls and form leads, so you know what's working.

How to check your own site in 10 minutes

  1. Open your site on your phone. Can you call, text and find a price within 5 seconds?
  2. Search Google for "[your service] [your city]". Does your site or Google profile show up?
  3. Look at your browser tab on each page. Does each one have a different, descriptive title?
  4. Send your quote form to yourself. Did it arrive, and how fast?
  5. Check that your phone number and hours match your Google Business Profile.
Missing more than a few of these? A redesign usually pays for itself in calls.
